There was a famous girl group that had a hit song talking about saying a persons's name and how important it seemed to be. With the lyrics and the melody you were grooving with no worries. Once I became a mother, the notion of someone calling my name for what feels like every second of the day did not sound as melodic. It is interesting because when a baby is born we are over the moon ecstatic the moment they say their first words of "Mama" or "Dada". We get so excited that they said something we want them to say it over and over. We want them to say it for everyone. When company came over it was, "show Grandmom what you can do...say Mama" LOL I thought to myself its as if we are conciously internally programming them to say something that will later come to bite us when we really just want to say "I've changed my name." It wasn't until my youngest daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and I joined one of those Mom Support Groups that I realized a very valuable lesson. In that moment it hit me that the very thing I was complaining about was someone elses unanswered prayer. There were women with children well into their teens that have never heard their child's voice say "Mama", "Mom" or any variation of the like. It was at that point I received a major mental paradigm shift in the way that I viewed my situaion compared to another. It truly taught me how to count my blessings and to lead with gratutide even in the hard times because no matter how great your stuggle may seem, your struggle could be someone else's answered prayer.
