Breast Feeding Tips for New Moms
Breastfeeding can be challenging yet rewarding when you think of the amazing bond that forms between you and your baby during those first few weeks. I exclusively breastfed four of my five children up to two years of age. Although there is no perfect system, because everyone's experience is different. I just wanted to share a few tips that helped me out along the way.
~Ask for a Lactation Consultant. They can be very helpful and supportive to get you started.

~Pump extra when possible. This will give you some backup if you get sick or if your milk production slows down.

~Drink LOTS of Water. A key essential to nursing is getting enough water to keep your milk flow steady.

~Nurse from BOTH sides. A little trick my Mother in Love taught me was to use a safety pin, clothes pin or something of the like to clip on your shirt and you move it from side to side as you nurse so that you don't wind up with one breast bigger than the other. Sounds strange but it happens!

As you sit nursing your little one or in the quiet time while they are napping, take a moment to ask yourself:

How does Breastfeeding make me feel today - fulfilled, exhausted, overwhelmed, connected, proud?

What have I learned about myself through this experience?
Do you have a question, a story to share, or need advice? If so, I'd Love to hear from you!
