"Stories That Have Shaped Our Family"

If there is one thing we have learned in our home, it's that a good book can turn an ordinary day into an adventure. From silly rhymes to heartfelt lessons, story time is one of our favorite ways to bond, laugh, and learn together. As a Black Mama, I love finding stories that reflect our lives, our heritage, and our joy - but I also just love a book that keeps my children saying, "Read it again!"
Here's a peek at what's on our shelves and in our hearts.

A hilarious and reassuring message to every mom because we really are doing our best and whenever you think you are falling short just know that there are indeed "Mom's way worse than you".

It can be challenging to stand
in our uniqueness but this book helps to reinforce the importance of loving who you are, respecting others and that kindness goes a long way.
While childhood memories can have a huge impact on how you parent your child, we have to be careful that we are making decisions that don't just satisfy your own unmet childhood needs, rather honing in on what your child needs.

Some times things don't go our way and that makes us upset, but this book teaches us even when we want to frown, it is so much better to just smile.

Although this book was primarily said to be written for children dealing with the loss due to gun violence, we were able to use it as a conversation starter on loss and grief and then we customized from there.

I found this book to be extremely helpful in identifying your child's love language which sets the tone for assisting them in successful learning as well as building a solid loving relationship as they get older.
